WHAT
ARE CLASSES LIKE?
Amanda’s classes usually begin with breath awareness and gentle
warming-up exercises. These are followed by Sun Salutations and dynamic
‘vinyasa flow’ sequences. Classes finish with relaxation
and meditative practices.
An important aspect to Amanda’s teaching style is to find
creative ways towards greater ease in movement and natural alignment.
These include exercises and inquiries deriving from her background
in dance and study of Body-Mind
Centering® principles.
VENUES
Tuesday classes are held in the new studio at the Academy which
has a beautiful wooden floor and soft lighting. It isn’t
necessary to be a member to join these classes as Amanda works
independently from the Academy. There are directions to the Academy
from their website which can be accessed from the links page.
Wednesday classes, which include Beginners, take place in a small
studio in the centre of Harrogate. Numbers are limited to seven people
which ensure that Beginners receive individual attention as they learn
basic principles of Yoga.
COURSES
Amanda runs her classes as courses, not drop in classes. This is
so that students can progress in a class with others at a similar
level and because Amanda wishes to know her students – their
personalities, abilities and any health problems, so that she can
teach in a safe and personal way.

The Beginners course is limited to eight people so you get to know the others in the group and receive individual attention from Amanda. The ciasses introduce the basics of yoga, including breath awareness and gentle warming up exercises, gradually leading to more challenging movements. Classes finish with relaxation.This course prepares you for continuation to Level 1. By continuing with yoga class and cultivating home practice (Amanda's audio CD helps with this) you gain the potential for life-long well-being in mind body and soul.
Wear stretchy, non-restrictive clothing which is not too baggy. Avoid eating for 2 hours before coming to class. Mats and blankets are provided.

This class is for experienced practitioners of yoga, however the group is limited to 8 students so modifications can be offered for individual needs.
PREGNANCY The classes on Wednesdays are suitable for Mums-to-be between 3 and 7 months in their pregnancy.
CORPORATE YOGA Amanda has experience in running classes for employees in a corporate setting.
PRIVATE SESSIONS One to one or small private groups by appointment.

CANCELLATIONS
if a session is cancelled less than 48 hours beforehand, the full amount will be due.
Where sessions have been agreed at a specific time on a regular, weekly basis then a retainer of half the cost of the session is payable up to 48 hours before the cancelled session, the full amount thereafter.
MENTAL HEALTH Amanda has experience in teaching patients in mental health settings.
