Yoga Teacher Training Diploma - Hebden Bridge

Taught by Amanda Latchmore, Jane Craggs, Graham Burns and other members of the Faculty

Yoga Campus are delighted to offer their Yoga Teacher Training Diploma course in Yorkshire, as well as in London. Amanda is delighted to be on the Yorkshire Board and Faculty of renowned and respected Yoga Campus Teacher Training.

The Yogacampus Yoga Teacher Training Diploma is one of the UK's top teacher training courses, known for its non-dogmatic and authentic approach. Since first offering their Diploma course in London in 2003, they have trained over 300 yoga teachers, from all parts of the UK and beyond. For some time, they have been looking to run the course in the north of England, in order to help students for whom regular travel to London for training is inconvenient. Yoga Campus are excited that, starting early in 2012, the course will be running at the lovely Calderdale Yoga Centre in Hebden Bridge, conveniently situated in a beautiful environment between Leeds and Manchester.

We at Yoga Campus believe that a great yoga teacher is a wonderfully unique combination of scientist, artist and spiritual guide, and seek to develop those abilities in each and every one of our students. Rather than focusing on any particular school or style of yoga or relying too heavily on a small number of teachers, the course draws on a range of leading teachers from a variety of yoga traditions. We recognise that yoga, from its earliest roots in ancient India, has continually grown and developed - and continues to grow and develop as we bring its teachings into the 21st century. Yoga Campus firmly believe that every path of this great centuries old tradition should be acknowledged, explored and respected and as a not for profit body, the aim is to keep the fees as low as reasonably possible.

The course is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 200 hour level, allowing graduates the benefit of an internationally recognised accreditation. Graduates are also entitled to join the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs), an organisation set up to regulate, help safeguard and promote the health and interests of people who are using the services of exercise and fitness instructors, teachers and trainers.

There are many good yoga teacher training courses. So why train with Yogacampus?

  • we have been around since 2003 and have trained well over 300 yoga teachers
  • we offer you a range of expert teachers, with eclectic backgrounds, but all with a passion for the yoga tradition
  • we give you the chance to select intensive study options with some of the world’s leading yoga teachers
  • we give you an experienced contact teacher to guide you throughout the course
  • we encourage you to explore the yoga tradition in all its aspects and….
  • we require you to think for yourself and find your unique voice as a teacher!

Perhaps the best testimonial for Yoga Campus is the fact that many of our graduates have forged very successful teaching careers, including, in some cases, establishing their own yoga centres.
Over the 18 months of the course we will help you to deepen your knowledge of the science of yoga - anatomy, physiology, teaching techniques, philosophy - as we teach you how to use your artistic creativity in class planning and sequencing. Learn to teach asana, pranayama and meditation in your own individual way, from the heart, with awareness, compassion, sensitivity and clarity. By the end of the course you will be able confidently to convey your own experience of yoga’s transforming power to your students with ease and confidence. You must attend 12 non-residential weekend modules and one 5 or 6 day intensive of your choice with a member of our Visiting Teacher Faculty. The 12 core weekend modules of the course cover the following areas in manageable portions designed to develop your knowledge and teaching skills progressively and systematically:

  • Yoga Asana
  • Practical Anatomy and Physiology
  • Teaching Skills and Techniques
  • Subtle and Energetic Anatomy
  • Pranayama and Meditation
  • The History and Philosophy of Yoga.

You can find more information about the course structure and content from the Course Prospectus, downloadable form http://www.yogacampus.com/attend/long-courses/yoga-teacher-training-diploma-hebden-bridge/

Throughout the course, you also learn how to develop and deepen your own practice, and have the support of a contact teacher, who may or may not be a teacher on the course and may well be a Yogacampus graduate. Each contact teacher has responsibility for a group of no more than 5 students. The group meets at least 4 times during the course for discussion and teaching practice, and you have ongoing contact with your contact teacher throughout the course to discuss your individual progress and any concerns which you may have, and to assess your teaching as you approach the end of the course. We believe that this is a unique feature of our course - just one more reason why the Yogacampus course is special.

On completion of the course you will receive a Yogacampus Teacher Training Diploma; you will also be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher and to join the Register of Exercise Professionals.
